TRACK REVIEW: Undead Redneck Rock N’Roll by Fangslinger
Fangslinger have kicked open the saloon doors once again with new single Undead Redneck Rock N’ Roll, a raucous, riff-heavy anthem that perfectly blends that hard rock energy and the the bands signature gothic Western mythology. It’s a new taste since the release of their debut album back in April, serving as an introduction to their next chapter and a statment of intent, spontaneously widening the entry for newcomers.
We open with a few seconds of an acoustic guitar, which is then quickly blasted out of the way with the full wall of head-rearing guitars and heavy hitting percussion. Fangslinger’s vocals are strong and gritty, backed by strong harmonies in the chorus, creating a great sing-along moment. It’s bold yet simple, not taking too much energy away from the audience so they can eagerly yell it back. The production feels wide and full, it doesn’t sacrifice impact.
The band has continued to build itself around the supernatural Wild West, outlaws and a tinge of danger, heavily coated with pure swagger. The track indeed continues the storyline of the lost souls, without ever losing sight of what matters most to them; a killer hook and an infectious groove. It’s theatrical, without feeling gimmicky, which is a pleasant refresher.
I need a hat and boots in time for their next drop, which we eagerly await!
